Physician.
Researcher.
Systems thinker.

I think about how things work — the visible parts and the ones nobody talks about. Medicine taught me that the body keeps score. Systems thinking taught me that everything does.

Who is Martha

Perceptive, principled, and probably already three steps ahead. I see patterns where others see noise.

I trained in medicine because I wanted to understand suffering. What I found was that suffering is rarely just biological. It lives in systems, in language, in how we organise ourselves around each other.

So my work runs along a single thread, even when the titles don’t match. Clinical research taught me how systems are meant to work. Patents and a doctoral research programme taught me how to build for the people those systems fail to see. The writing names what the data leaves out. It all does the same job from different angles — surfacing what systems don’t see.

How systems are meant to work

The end-to-end machinery of a trial — qualification, monitoring, deviation, safety. This is the ground I came up on, and the work I'm moving toward next.

Phase 3 Clinical Trial Observer

7 months

Inductive Quotient

  • Observed qualification, initiation, and monitoring visits end to end — site visit structure, investigator qualification verification, and ISF/TMF filing requirements.
  • Followed protocol deviation identification, communication to site staff, and CAPA documentation in real time across an active trial.
  • Direct exposure to adverse event and SAE review, concomitant medication verification, and data integrity practices under ICH-GCP.

International Research Collaborator

2024 — 2025

Global Suicide Prevention Network / The Lancet Psychiatry

  • Led primary data collection and quality assessment across assigned countries in a 105-country study; applied source data verification and quality-control methodology across diverse site environments.
  • Named collaborator on the peer-reviewed publication (The Lancet Psychiatry, 2025).
  • Assessed data completeness and accuracy; contributed findings to Bayesian statistical modelling across 105 countries.

Self-Directed Clinical Research

May 2025 — Present

Berlin, Germany

  • Produced a monitoring-plan redesign for a Phase III oncology trial — IPCW-adjusted survival analysis and irAE rechallenge protocol — anchored in ICH E6(R2), E9, E9(R1), and FDA adaptive design guidance.
  • Completed hands-on EDC training (Medidata Rave, REDCap) and CTMS (Veeva) through the Johns Hopkins Clinical Trial Operations specialisation.
  • Maintained study documentation aligned with TMF standards; applied ICH-GCP principles to protocol analysis and regulatory review.

The Scene Bible

An interactive film in three parts, on pharmaceutical regulatory failure and the neurodivergent experience of being processed by systems. Three doors. Three systems. Built with Remotion.

Door One

The Building

Corporate approval

Aduhelm, and what it means when a regulatory pathway bends toward the institution instead of the patient. A building you can walk into and not find the exit.

Door Two

The Willow

Systemic harm

Regulatory failure as something that grows — slow, structural, rooted. The damage isn’t an event. It’s a condition the system keeps watering.

Door Three

The Mask

Neurodivergent masking

What it costs to be legible to a system that was never calibrated for you. The performance of fitting, and the data that performance erases.

Currently in production. The finished piece will live here as a walkable case study in regulatory storytelling.

Building for what the data leaves out

A peer-reviewed credit, two filed patents, and a preprint — most of it pointed at the same question: how do you measure an experience a system was never designed to register?

04Practice, Education & Background

The ward before the whitepaper

Clinical training taught me that policy has a pulse — you feel it in the corridor before you read it in the literature. The rest of the record runs across medicine, strategy, security, and diplomacy. Different rooms, one way of thinking.

Clinical practice

Healthcare Professional (Pflegefachkraft)

Sept 2023 — Present

Vivantes · Haus Jungfernheide, Berlin

  • Clinical patient records and safety protocols under German regulatory standards, in a high-volume inpatient environment.
  • Ground-level understanding of patient eligibility, protocol-level care, and institutional compliance — the same machinery a monitor verifies, seen from inside the ward.
